School Strength & Conditioning Programs

Age-Appropriate Strength And Conditioning Programs

At Cross Conditioning, we recognize that schools have a fundamental need; an inclusive strength training program that serves the physical and emotional needs of student athletes. Our goal is to not only coach and improve lifting technique, but also elevate how they carry themselves outside the weight room.

FIVE PRINCIPLES FOR SCHOOL PROGRAMMING

  1. Quality over Quantity: We instill the importance of not failing reps, getting quality reps done, learning technique and making consistent improvements.
  2. Train For Athleticism: At Cross Conditioning, our goal is to train athletic movements, not for specific muscle development. We want athletes to build foundational lifting competency that will translate directly to their sport.
  3. Coach and Be Coachable: There is always something to improve, whether it is technique or attitude. Being coachable is a lifelong skill, it is the athlete’s responsibility to listen and implement feedback. As coaches we are not exempt, we must take feedback and adjust our message to suit the athlete.
  4. Maintain Standards: Our standards are high for work ethic and technique, but also how equipment is treated and maintained. The little stuff matters, and if athletes take pride in what they have access to, it carries over to how they train.
  5. Be a Teammate: In our experience, the only thing that matters as a strength coach is delivering a group of teammates. The first step comes from telling athletes they need.

Cross Conditioning’s Holistic Approach To Youth Sports Training

A Comprehensive Approach To Training Student Athletes

The key to our continued success is that fundamental training principles are taught universally but at a level that matches each athlete’s ability.

This system is centred around consistent, continual coaching where every session is led directly by a coach with a focus on progress over perfection.

Our program includes instruction in:

  • movement training
  • injury reduction and rehabilitation
  • linear and lateral speed techniques
  • foot speed and agility
  • explosive power development
  • proper functional strength training
  • energy system conditioning

Junior High School Performance Programs

Junior High School programming is designed for athletes ages 11-14 and emphasizes strength and conditioning fundamentals in a safe learning environment. By prioritizing foundational movement competencies, these athletes will be prepared for our high-performance training model as they mature. Programs are 60-90 minutes in length and incorporate all elements of our performance training model, modified for the younger athlete.

High School Performance Programs

High School programming is designed for athletes ages 14-18 and designed to enhance the performance of young athletes. With a strong training foundation in place, these athletes benefit from more advanced training protocols to take their athleticism to the next level. Programs are 60-90 minutes in length and incorporate all elements of our high-performance training model.
